About our Programs

International Law Programs at UC Davis School of Law

The School of Law at the University of California, Davis, offers quality legal and educational programs that combine a theoretical and practical approach to U.S. and international law. The programs have been endorsed by the International Law Section of the State Bar of California and California Continuing Education of the Bar.

Who Should Take Our Courses

Our courses are designed for lawyers, judges, law professors and pre-LL.M. students who want to learn about theories and practices of the U.S. legal system. Knowledgeable practitioners and business professionals also enroll in the programs to learn about complex business and legal transactions. Many of our courses are open to any legal professional, with no entrance requirements or formal admission process.

For those interested in pursuing formal graduate studies, the 10-month LL.M. program and the part-time summer International Commercial Law LL.M. provide unique opportunities for qualified applicants to study at the UC Davis School of Law either on a full-time or part-time basis. Graduates of these degrees have gone on to sit for the bar examinations in New York and California.

Full-Time, Academic Year Master of Laws (LL.M.) Program

Lawyers around the world find that their work increasingly requires them to advise and assist clients regarding foreign laws and legal systems, and to reconcile jurisdictions. This exceptional program prepares students to participate in transnational law and economic development, and expand their professional roles in the internationalize economy and in global integration. A two-year option is also available for those requiring a longer period of study to meet their educational and career goals.

Summer Part-Time International Commercial Law LL.M.

A part-time program completed over two to five summers, the Summer International Commercial Law LL.M. program is designed to provide specialized knowledge in international business and trade with an emphasis on the U.S. legal system in a comparative context. The program and schedule enable legal practitioners who wish to expand their breadth and depth of knowledge to obtain a master’s degree by attending six weeks of courses for two to five consecutive summers at the School of Law at University of California, Davis, and other locations abroad. This degree program is for international and domestic lawyers.

What You Receive for Taking the Summer Law Programs

For each course that is satisfactorily completed, participants will receive a certificate of attendance. Individuals who wish to take courses for credit can request an official transcript.

Academic credit from any of our courses may be applied toward the: summer International Commercial Law LL.M. and/or the Licentiate in International Transactions Involving the United States.

This school is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students.
